One Day Guide to Dumaguete City

Dumaguete is hip, cool, and laid back. The city’s boulevard is my favorite college professor’s favorite strolling place. To me, Dumaguete is not just the hip university city that it is, it is also an extension of Siquijor because my grandpa used to work here and we would come here to visit him when school was off. It is easy to explore the small city in a day and hop on to another destination after the sun sets. If you only have one day in Dumaguete, then read on for my recommendations.

How to Get There: Siquijor from Cebu by Bus

Traveling by bus from Cebu to Siquijor is probably the most popular mode of transportation to get to the island. If you are on a touristy or vacation mode, this route is the most fun because it is like hitting three islands in one trip. I would warn you, however, to be extra careful when taking this route during Holy Weeks (especially Maundy Thursday and Good Friday) and during All Souls' and All Saints' Days.

How to Get There: Siquijor from Dumaguete

This is a continuation of my How to Go to Siquijor series. If you haven't already, you can read my guide on how to go to Siquijor from Cebu by boat HERE. There are also some flights by CebuPacific in Dumaguete from Manila and Cebu. You can also travel by land from Negros Occidental to Dumaguete. In this post, I will give you the most comprehensive guide on how to go to Siquijor via Dumaguete, with some insights and tips.

How to Cut Travel Expenses in Singapore + What I Learned from the City-State

The photo above (by my husband) represented to me what Singapore is, at least through my eyes. Far from the tourist-filled parks along Clark Quay and Orchard Road, the fast lanes in the MRT, the magnificent man-made structures that signify the city-state’s modernity, is the heart of Singapore — it’s people.

How to Get There: Siquijor from Cebu by Boat

Since high school, I have always been known as the “girl from Siquijor.” At a time when social media was still in its embryonic stage, not many of my classmates have traveled to Siquijor and only knew of the place as scary or the island of mambabarangs (sorcerers) because of television shows such as Magandang Gabi Bayan's Halloween specials. It used to offend me when people associate Siquijor with black magic but I soon realized that people make these kinds of associations because they never had the opportunity to travel to the island and learn about the place. Which to me, meant I was in a better place than them to let them know about our island, and correct any misconceptions. So, I started “educating” my classmates, my friends, and my acquaintances of the island by answering their questions and telling them stories. One of the questions I get asked a lot is — How do I get to Siquijor? In jest, I go home to Siquijor riding a broom. Haha. I wish it was that easy, but, unfortunately, it isn't. We do not travel to Siquijor riding brooms. We have several options, and, I'll tell you, none of them is super easy and relaxed.

One Day Guide to Visita Iglesia in Siquijor

Siquijor is a pretty small island that you can tour on a day (or half a day if you don't stop over). Like many small towns in the Philippines, Siquijor is composed mainly of Roman Catholics although I must say that there are a lot of other religions practiced in the island, including Aglipayan, Protestantism, Jehovah's Witness, Iglesia ni Christo, Adventist. The most popular tour in the island would the the Visita Iglesia, not only for Catholics but for anyone, mostly because the island's churches are not just a symbolism of a religion but also the symbolism of the island's history.

8 Days in Singapore + Melaka for P34,000

2016 was a good year for me. It was the year my husband and I went on our first international flight and the first time my siblings, my husband and I went on a trip together. How did it go? It was fun with a lot of walks. I joked that the Singapore trip will cripple me. Hahaha. Our trip was not budget travelling nor was it a luxury trip. It was what I call an affordable trip. So, I’m going to share our expenses, planning, and itinerary, some tips and tricks we did to save few pesos (and SG dollars and ringgits), and a few lessons learned from the trip.

Thrfiting Tour Pt. 1 -- Uptown Cebu City

One of the many reasons why I love Cebu City is the thrift shop/ukay-ukay scene. They're every where! Although I have noticed that there are fewer ukayans now compared to six years ago when I started my online shop, Just Got Lucky Shop. Many have closed maybe because foreign brands, such as Forever21, Zara, H&M, and Uniqlo, are already here in the city. This has been a long time project I had in mind but I never got around to executing it. Here is a first installment of a thrifting tour series. We would start touring the uptown area of Cebu City not just because of the many thrift shops there but because I find the area lovely and historical as well. So, come on, let's go!

OPPO F1s - Travel Essentials

I have several trips lined up this year. The thing is, I get excited all the time even if that trip would involve just hopping on the husband's Tamaraw-FX and traveling to several blocks into the city center for a staycation. One of the things I get excited about when it comes to traveling, in addition to the destination, is the planning and the packing of things to bring. Through the years, I edited my travel essentials to the bare minimum as I've learned a heavy baggage, literally and figuratively, takes a toll on me. Because of the upcoming trips, I got excited with Nuffnang's collaboration with Oppo and thought it might be a good opportunity to talk about the things I usually bring when I travel. Read on if you want to know how I have edited my traveling bags through the years...
